Ribbon Rings

Lately I have been loving this whole pintrest idea! There are so many wonderful and creative ideas on there! I just can't get enough! Anyway, while browsing around on pintrest I came across these ribbon dancing ring things. I thought they were so cool! You can go here to see the original. I really liked the idea, but I didn't have any wood rings. I saw some pipe cleaners and got inspired!

I started out by twisting two pipe cleaners together then forming a ring by wrapping the ends around each other.

I then tied a bunch of ribbon onto my ring. I have some short ribbon and some long ribbon because I thought it might look more interesting, and because I just dug through my scrap ribbon drawer and this is what I found.

Then waalaaa! You have a fancy schmansy ribbon ring of your very own!

Kiddie Scavengar Hunt!

I saw this idea on I am Momma hear me roar! I knew it was something my kids would love! It would also get them walking around outside, and help get some energy out! Not to mention it was totally free! I just saved our egg cartons, and used some scrapbook supplies I had on hand. Here's what you'll need...
Egg Cartons (however many kids you have)
Scrapbook paper
Strong Paper Glue (take it from me, glue dots did not work!)
Pictures of things to look for outside ( I printed the one from the blog) Push all the middle things (?) down inside the egg carton, this will help it close better!

Glue on the picture!

Embellish the tops with scrapbook paper, and stickers!

Go hunting!!!

My kids really got into this! It was awesome to see!

Don't forget to stop and stare at any balloons you might see! ( We live in Rexburg and have these things all over the place)

Yarn Dolls!

During the winter, we spent long days in the house! I had lots of crafts and activities planned for the beginning of the winter, but the cold weather in Rexburg lasts a little longer than other places we've lived. So, towards the end of the season it was a lot easier just to turn movies on. Now that it's finally warm I am trying to keep the TV off and do more productive things. We are outside for most of the day, but Kenedi and I have some time together while Macy takes a nap! This is a fun craft we did the other day that both the girls loved! Yarn Dolls! I made these when I was a kid! I loved the American Doll Kiersten (the pioneer one) and I got a book of fun pioneer crafts when I got the actual Kiersten doll and it had instructions for these dolls! You will need some yarn, scissors, and a piece of cardboard (I had just opened a new home fragrance thing, so I just used the box it came in:) Start by wrapping the yarn around your cardboard.

Slide the yarn off the cardboard and keep your finger in the middle.

This picture is the wrong way...sorry, but you'll want to cut another piece of yarn, slide it throught the middle of your wrapped yarn and tie it up...

So it looks like this.

Then tie another piece of yarn down a little ways so it makes a head.

Take some scissors and cut the loops on the bottom of the doll, and separate a few pieces of yarn on the sides for arms and tie them off.

If you want a dress, just tie another piece of yarn to make a waist, and if you want legs, just split the rest of the yarn and tie them off!

You are done!!! My girls played with these forever! I hope your kids enjoy it too!!

Goodwill Rocks!

One day Sky and I were bored and decided to head up to Goodwill to browse around and I found this awesome butler table. I immediately knew what I wanted to do with it and the best part was that it only cost $6!!!! Score!! I forgot to take pictures of what it looked like before I started taking it apart and fixing it, but I took a few pictures of what it looked like before I painted it.

This top part just sat on the table frame. They weren't attached by anything (probably because it was used as a serving tray).

I had already painted one side of the legs when I realized that I hadn't taken any pictures. So I quickly snapped a couple of pictures of the legs before they were painted and after one side was painted.

Now for the moment you've all been waiting for! Here is the finished product:

I hand painted all of the flowers on and her name on it. I used a flower stencil that I made out of carstock using my cricut. Don't look too closely because it's by far not perfect!

The side and back wings all fold up or go flat. I screwed the front wing all the way down so that it stays there. 

My little Sky loves her desk/table! She put some pictures on it and her jewlery on it and added a princess stool. 

I must say that this is one of my favorite projects that I have done! It was so much fun and turned out better than I expected it to! My husband helped me a little bit in putting it back together. I'm still learning how to be a handyman. :) Next project is a stool for it and a jewelery/hair thing holder for it.

T-shirt Revamp

I am so excited to show you this project I've been working on! I found a kids T shirt at Walmart for $1 but it was a size large, which is way to big for my little girl. It was only $1 and really cute so I bought it anyway. My daughter loves to wear dresses right now and will only wear dresses and skirts. She REFUSES to wear shorts or pants. So I decided to turn the shirt I bought into a "princess" dress. It was really simple and fun to make! I'll show you how I did it, but I forgot to take pictures while I was doing it (I was inspired by an idea and got caught up in the moment, happens often when it comes to crafts). With that being said, please forgive me for my lack of detail in the pictures, they were taken after the dress was finished. So here goes!

First you need a shirt. You can even use one of your old T shirts to make a dress for you little girl.

Then fold it in half.

Then take an old dress of you little one's and fold it in half as well. Next lay the dress on top of the folded in half shirt like you see above. Next, cut the shirt to match the dress. If it has sleeves (like this one does) you want to cut off the sleeves and sew them back on later. I left mine a little bit wider and longer since she has been growing so much lately. 

Then you want to sew up the sides, but remember to leave an opening for an arm hole. I straight stiched mine then went back and zig zag stitched it since I don't have a serger. Then you want to line up your sleeves. Make sure both the sleeve and shirt are both turned inside out. Line up your sleeve and pin it all around. Then sew the sleeves to the shirt. For this part I also straight stitched and zig zag stitched.

Next I cut out a bunch of circles from this zebra material I have. I used a small spool of thread and a spool of ribbon to make a small circle and a larger circle. I just traced the spools then cut out the circles.

Then I arranged the circles how I wanted them on the shirt and pinned them down. Afterwhich, I zig zag stitched the circles to the shirt using black thread.

Waaalaaa! Super easy! I tied a black piece of tool around her waist to add a little something. I love how it turned out!

Girls Craft Night Out!

I know it's been a long time since I've posted anything. I have been super busy! We have been moving on top of a million other things. Things will be slowing down now so I should be back to crafting soon.

The weekend before Easter a couple of girls and I got together to sew skirts for our little girls. It was a lot of fun! Hopefully we'll be able to do another craft night soon. If you want to make the skirts here. The Made blog is so great! She has so many fun projects.

I made this skirt later for an Easter present for her. I added a rosette to the top.
